There is so much do at Disney World! I can’t tell you how many times I have heard of families being disappointed after their Disney vacation because they didn’t get to do everything. That’s okay! I believe Disney World was made in a way that persuades you to return for a future trip to be able to see and do more. So to get the most out of your trip we have put together the Top 10 Fun Things To Do At Disney World! Whether it’s your first trip or your 20th, these are things that truly never get old and we love to do every time we are there.

We made this list because we get asked a lot what are our favorite things to do or what are the things that people should concentrate on when they are going on a Disney vacation. Most people think they have to do everything but the truth is that you can’t do everything on your Disney vacation. For example, and no offense to anyone that likes this, but I find The Country Bear Jamboree so boring, so I just don’t do it. Out of all of things to do at Disney World, that is isn’t one of them that I enjoy. Luckily, there are so many other fun things to do at Disney World, you won’t miss that dull stuff.

The Top 10 Fun Things To Do At Disney World

You can checkout the list below and just a reminder that these are things that I truly love to do each time I go and I’m a true Disney fan but obviously these things may not be for everyone but I feel most will be things that everyone will truly find fun to do.

1. Resort Hop

If you’ve never stayed at any of the Disney World hotels before, it is worth the effort to visit some of them. The Disney Deluxe Resorts specifically are very popular and for good reason: they are themed well, close to the parks, and have phenomenal rooms. So resort hopping can be done in two ways. You can either drive or take transportation to a few select resorts to explore the lobby, restaurants, and recreation areas, or you can break up your hotel stay on your trip into 2 or more different resorts (stay in one hotel for a few nights, then switch to a different hotel for the remaining nights). This gives you the chance to experience more resorts in a limited amount of time. I recommend spending some time in the lobbies, walking around the exterior and pool areas, and even checking out special eateries that are exclusive to the resort.

2. Attend a Party or Special Event

Disney has increased the amount of upcharges, or “hard ticket events,” in the last few years. Most of them have become highly regarded by visitors and are repeated every year. Specifically, Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party and Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party and the main two events that draw in large crowds. Yes, you have to pay extra to attend these parties, but the food and entertainment provided can be so worth it. Some other fun events include Epcot’s Food and WIne Festival and Epcot’s Flower and Garden Festival. There is no cost to attend, but you will pay ( A LOT) for any food or drink you want. There are many more events happening throughout the year, but these 4 are the big ones!

3. Extra Magic Hours

If you are a DIsney World Resort guest, you have permission to enter the parks for Extra Magic Hours at certain parks on certain days. Anyone not staying on Disney property is not allowed to enter or stay in the park during these hours. The appeal of EMH is that you can often experience attractions much faster with lower crowds compared to the crazy amount of people in the parks during regular operating hours. EMHs occur for an hour before park opening, or 3 hours after the official park closing.

4. Spend Some Time at Disney Springs

With the name change from Downtown Disney to Disney Springs came an almost complete revamp of the layout and feel of this area. There are new shopping opportunities, delicious restaurants, and creative and cool entertainment. You could spend hours at Disney Springs without spending a dime (it’s hard, but it can be done), but you will find a lot of unique experiences at this shopping-type district.

5. Have a Spa Day

Nothing sounds more relaxing than taking a Disney vacation, right? Haha, just kidding. Disney World tends to lend itself to more of an engaging and active experience than relaxing vacation. But it can be more laid back if you try! I encourage you to try Senses at Disney’s Grand Floridian Hotel and Spa. Although pretty pricey, you can find a menu of massages, facials, peels, soaks, etc. Sounds very soothing!

6. Head to the Boardwalk

Situated just on the other side of The Boardwalk Inn is where you’ll find The Boardwalk. This place is so fun! There are restaurants, shops, dance clubs, bars, food carts, and even street entertainment! The decor and vibe lend itself to the Atlantic City Boardwalk around the turn-of-the-century. You’ll find some many things to do that the whole family can enjoy. AND, if you feel like going to Epcot, you can walk to the entrance in about 5 minutes! Super convenient and really cool.

7. Guided Tours

If you are visiting Disney World, and it isn’t your first time, I recommend taking a special tour that Disney offers. They offer at least 4 (I say at least because they add and take away different tours all the time). The Keys to the Kingdom is one of the more popular ones. For the most part, the tours give guests an inside look into how Disney works, its history, and backstage areas. You can also book tours where you can ride attractions without standing in line. If I had the cash, I would so do something like this every time I go.

8. Chow Down at The California Grill

This experience is very sweet. At the very top of The Contemporary Resort sits the uber nice restaurant The California Grill. The food is amazing (and pricey), the drinks creative, and the environment is breathtaking. One side of the restaurant is only windows, which overlooks Bay Lake. But the best part of eating there is what happens around 9pm. The restaurant lights will dim, music will pipe in, and diners are encouraged to go outside to the balcony to face the Magic Kingdom to watch Wishes fireworks. Talk about a world class view! It’s beautiful, breathtaking, and one of the most romantic things to do at Disney World.

9. Splash Around!

While I’m not a huge fan of water parks in general, Disney water parks are fantastic! There are two right now, Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon, that are so much fun. Keep in mind that each one goes down for a few months each year for refurbishment, and admission requires a special “water parks and more” option on your Disney park tickets.

10. Experience Classic Attractions

Since Disney World has been around for over 45 years now, there have been a lot of changes to come through. But there are some older attractions that remain very popular and people love to experience. I love doing this, as it takes me back to my childhood and riding those rides as a wee little one. Examples of classic attractions are Haunted Mansion, Carousel of Progress, People Mover, and It’s a Small World.

There are definitely more top things to do at Disney World, but this list will get you started. The great thing about Disney itself is that it is fun in SO many different ways. Just go there and do things. Of course, if you enjoyed this article then you should check out our article What’s The Best Age For Disney?
